Some photos from our walk into El Tule today to see how the first official day of Dia de los Muertos is looking. New murals went up, more papel picado (the colorful cut out flags) and some of the first ofredas (altars) are being built and heaped with fresh flowers and decorations. We found a lot of juxtoposition between the old and the new here as well as a lot of unusual plants we had never seen before. (Click any of the photos below to launch a full size slide show)
